Project "WASTE" basically means improving the management of municipal waste in Nis. It predicts the division of about 20,000 cans and 138 thousand plastic bags into which people from Nis will be recyclable waste dispose: PET packaging, plastics, paper, cans, glass. Thus collected waste will be taken with special vehicles to the recycling center for further selection and preparation for processing. "Recycling Center, as it is announced, is equipped in the building of PUC" Mediana ". The City of Nis for this purpose allocated 22 million from the budget, and the Republic of Serbia has paid 30 million dinars for the purchase of equipment for waste separation. With the selection and recycling of waste significant economic effects are expected, since it will employ in the recycling circle hundred people and all recycled waste will be sold. The value of this project is the fact that citizens should learn to preserve the environment and that the waste does not end on the streets. This project, according to the director Bratislav Vuckovic, goes beyond the importance of the PUC "Mediana". With these activities clear message is sent to the citizens of the region and similar systems are widely applied in Europe, examples of good practice for environmental protection. Our citizens need some time to adjust to the collection and separation of waste material. With our project "Living Green", which included environmental education of children in kindergartens, schools and other community groups, says the president of Palilula Municipality Boban Džunić, we have tried to show the importance of this activity. Number of illegal dumps is reduced in our neighborhoods, but this is only the beginning of their everyday work. By entering Serbia into the European Union, these rules will be part of our life and must be respected. |
